Thats what this test “Are you a Chocoholic?” says!!

N I must say my favourite is still Cadbury’s Dairy Milk.

There are very few foods about which people are as passionante as chocolate! For a true chocoholic the thought of chocolates can evoke a feeling of elation!

But do you know why Chocolate makes us feel good?

Chocolate and Love

Chocolate contains a natural ‘love drug’. Tryptophan is a chemical that the brain uses to make a neurotransmitter called serotonin. High levels of serotonin can produce feelings of elation by increasing serotonin levels. Today, some postulate that chocolate triggers a brain chemical that produces the same reaction brought on by a passionate love affair.Perhaps that is why, when a love affair turns sour, many a spurned lover goes on a chocolate binge.

Chocolate causes certain endocrine glands to secrete hormones that affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy. Therefore, it counteracts depression, in turn reducing the stress of depression. Your stress-free life helps you maintain a youthful disposition, both physically and mentally. So, eat lots of chocolate!

ChocolateSmiley

After having gorged into tons (ok ok .. I may be exaggerating here) of various kinds of Chocolat, only recently did it occur to me that I should find out if I had missed out on any! So took on the mission and thereafter couldnt resist to share my knowledge with like-fellows.

The botanical name of the chocolate plant is Theobramba cacao, which means “Food of the Gods.” So very apt.

Types of chocolate:

Chocolate typesMilk chocolate

It is chocolate liquor with extra cocoa butter, sugar, milk and vanilla added. This is the most popular form for chocolate. It is primarily an eating chocolate.

White chocolate

Somewhat of a misnomer cos white chocolate does not contain these solids, which leaves it a smooth ivory or beige colour.

Dark chocolate

Sweetened chocolate with high content of cocoa solids and no or very little milk, it may contain up to 12% milk solids.
Dark chocolate can either be sweet, semi-sweet, bittersweet or unsweetened.

Cocoa

Chocolate liquor with much of the cocoa butter removed, creating a fine powder.

Couverture

Couverture is a special kind of chocolate that has more cocoa butter than regular chocolate, anywhere from 33% to 38% for a really good brand.

So had enuf of gyan, its time for some good news for all ladies:

It’s a popular belief that the consumption of chocolate can cause acne. Such an effect could not be shown in scientific studies as the results are inconclusive. So girls just grab a bar right now! Pure chocolate contains anti-oxidants which aid better skin complexion, another reason to have chocolates. It is not the chocolate itself that causes acne, but rather the milk with which the chocolate is mixed.

I could give up chocolate but I’m not a quitter. 😉
