“Pehli Nazar Mein” from Race

The song “Pehli Nazar” from the movie “Race” has been climbing charts since its release. When I heard it, me too liked the melodious song greatly and can say yet again Atif has done a good job of it. Atif’s voice echoes in and you are sure not to forget this track for a long time to come. No sooner had I marveled at the number, I found out that it’s a copy of a Korean song..!!! Aaah Indian musicians and plagiarism…they seem to be synonymous. So another straight lift of “Sarang Hae Yo” from the movie “A Millionaire’s First Love”. These music directors should thank the other artists for making their job easier. These shameless copying of the songs just makes me wonder..do these people have talent.. yeah they do have good ear for music to copy from!

But on a final note I still find Atif’s rendition better than the Korean guy.. cos at least I understand what he is singing!!! :)

Boondh – A Drop of Jal

After the grand success of their album “Aadat”, Jal have released their new album “Boondh – a drop of jal”. Speculations and comparisons are indispensable. It’s always tough to live up to people’s expectations. And I think Jal have come up with a good compilation.Boondh - A Drop of Jal - Album Cover

The album contains numbers which are soft, romantic and tinged with desperation for a beloved – very signature of Jal. As a band they have grown..particularly Farhaan who as a vocalist shows great improvement – listen to him in the starting few lines of Payal- “Payal ka shor macha ke/Nindiya se tun jaga ke/Tu kaheen jaaye na“. This is the songs which I was really looking forward to. I had heard the teaser of this song and was eager to listen the full version of it. And they have not at all disappointed me. A very good composition. I loved Goher’s rendition of the song “Hamein Itna Pyaar” but at times the lyrics are way too cliched..nevertheless it makes for a good listening..particularly the slower version.I know I am sucker for soft romantic mushy songs. It has got a slow version too. Of the trio of the band Jal – Goher, Farhan and Shazi..Goher deserves an applause for he is a bundle of talent – lyricist, songwriter and a vocalist – he can do it all.

Maybe at first listening you wont love the songs as much ..but the music gradually grows on you.

My verdict – Impressive and lingering.

I know I am punching two together, but with Atif also releasing his new album “Meri Kahani” I couldn’t stop myself from putting in my comments. As many would remember, that Atif Aslam and Goher Mumtaz together had started the band Jal but gradually separated ways. Atif showed great promise as a vocalist. With his album Doorie last year he wooed the crowds all over again. Now he has come up with another album, claiming it to be the actual sequel to Aadat, titled “Meri Kahani”. I don’t have much to say about this album cos it has disappointed me, except for two songs, “Meri Kahani” and “Chor Gaye”, the other songs are too noisy. It’s not that I am against Atif or for Jal, but somehow this album fails. I loved the album “Doorie”, which was panned by critics. Will have to wait and watch who goes up or who goes down or is it that there is equal takers for their music.

The only released video of the album “Boondh” is “Sajni”. The video is conceptually different and not to mention shot beautifully. Here is the video:

Bushisms = Funny Quotes by George W. Bush

For beginners,
Bushism = peculiar words, phrases, pronunciations, malapropisms, semantic or linguistic errors and gaffes that have occurred in the public speaking of United States President George W. Bush.

Sovereignity as per dictionary:

Washington is a town where there’s all kinds of allegations. You’ve heard much of the allegations. And if people have got solid information, please come forward with it. And that would be people inside the information who are the so-called anonymous sources, or people outside the information — outside the administration. (September 30, 2003)

I believe the results of focusing our attention and energy on teaching children to read and having an education system that’s responsive to the child and to the parents, as opposed to mired in a system that refuses to change, will make America what we want it to be — a more literate country and a hopefuller country.

The administration I’ll bring is a group of men and women who are focused on what’s best for America, honest men and women, decent men and women, women who will see service to our country as a great privilege and who will not stain the house.

And here I saved the best for the last:

Got a Bushism, do not hesitate to add.

Ek Shaqs – Abhijeet Sawant

The nation’s first Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant, shot to fame when the entire country became enchanted with his voice. His first album “Aap ka Abhijeet” was a hit too. Now he has come up with his second album – Junoon – which I think has got more depth in it than the previous one. The first video to be aired “Junoon” gave us a new Abhijeet with much stronger vocals. But it’s this song “Ek Shaqs” which has impressed me. The song ‘Ek Shaqs’ wrtten by Saeed quadri makes for a wonderful listening and has been rendered beautifully by Abhijeet. I could really connect with song when it goes “Ek din kisi baat pe jab woh rooth gaya tha, us haadse ke baad, yeh dil toot gaya tha” – cause ..it’s in a moment that things go wrong and never in your wildest dreams would you have thought of it… and how your world falls apart and what you are left with is just memories of moments spent with that one person.

Ek Shaqs – Lyrics

Ek Shaqs Raaste mein kahin chhoot gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thaa
Ek Shaqs Raaste mein kahin chhoot gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thaa

Woh shaqs jiske kaandhe pe sir rakh ke main soya
Seene ke jiske kayi baar main roya
Jisske zulfon ke khooshbu mein raaton mein khoya
Jis jism ke barsaat mein yeh jism bhigoya
Ek din kisi baat pe jab woh rooth gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thha
Ek din kisi baat pe jab woh rooth gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thaa

Rehta hoon qaid ab bhi jiske yaadon ke pehre mein
Hai dum jiske aaj bhi mere baahon ke ghere mein
Jiske khwaabon ko main ne neend mein sanjoya
Jiske ashqon ko maine apni aankhon mein piroya
Ek din kisi baat pe jab woh rooth gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thha
Ek din kisi baat pe jab woh rooth gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thaa

Ek Shaqs Raaste mein kahin chhoot gaya thha
Uss haadse ke baad yeh dil toot gaya thaa
Ek Shaqs Raaste mein …..raaste mein….

Again, a mind blowing song by Atif Aslam. My God how does he write such great songs..anyone in love or not will definitely fall in love with his songs….for me..his songs just reflect my feelings…no wonder …..his songs are so close to my heart!!! And the lyrics…..uff…so heart-touching..just love them.. so here are the lyrics of Kyun Chor Gaye…..not lyrics should call them poetry… :)

Chupke se aaye yaad teri yahaan

Kab tak bharoon khud mein junoon
Tum na milo toh kaise sahoon
Apni wafa pe hai toh yakeen
Tum saath na do toh kya main karoon

hooo hooo hoo hoo hoo
naaaa na nanaaa naaaa na nanaaa naaaa na nanaaa

Kyun chor gaye raaste
Kabhi saath chale thhe jin pe

OCEAN’S Thirteen Teasers

I absolutely loved Ocean’s Eleven. It was well-put together, contained great performances, and was endearing. The sequel (Ocean’s Twelve) couldn’t pack in the punch….n was kinda disappointment..but with so many hot guys in it..I can still sit through the movie..one more time. :)

So now comes Ocean’s Thirteen which completes the trilogy. Daniel Ocean or Danny (played by sexy George Clooney) and his merry band of heist-pullers, which includes Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, are back in ‘Ocean’s 13′. In order to pull off their most ambitious job yet, the crew teams up with erstwhile enemy Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia). When ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) double-crosses one of the original Ocean’s eleven – Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould) – Danny and the gang team up one more time to see if they can break “The Bank”.

Here are two trailers of the forthcoming movie which look tempting enough to book your tickets for the first show of the first day.

The movie hits cinema halls on June 8th in the US.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom – Music Review

The title of the movie is taken off from a very poular qawwali (though am not great fan of this genre of music)of which decade… I dunno!! I hear it was very popular….am looking for the mp3 to check it out …what it really is it all about! Well the rushes of the movie was quite impresssive, so had to check out the music…..and i think the album is quite …differently flavored…specially the title song “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” has a distinct taste. Well the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has once again been successful in giving a hit score. Here is a sample of all the songs from the album to check out..n if you like them..go ahead and buy the CD to enjoy full versions ..and dont ask me from where to download..cos I hate pirated music!!!!

List of songs (in order as they play):

iPhone – Live Demo

iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. It is supposed to usher in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.

Yes, we all have read and heard about it but here is the live demo of THE PHONE:
